"C" is for Cow

OK, chances are I am never going to go back and catch up on all my posts. So I am going to pick a few of my favorite photos I have taken. I think I have only missed 3 or 4 days taking a picture--that's the part I enjoy doing! Finding clever things to say about my pictures is a completely different story! This was taken last Friday up by Eshom Valley. I love that place. It is beautiful, peaceful, and a perfectly lovely day trip!

Day 71--Wow!

Let's just say it has been CRAZY BUSY since this ward had the boundaries realigned!  I thought I was busy before anything happened, and I have since found out I didn't really know what busy was until now!  On top of all that had to be organized and done for Relief Society--including replacing almost the entire Relief Society board, the Relief Society was in charge of the first ward activity.  It was going to be on May 7th and we were going to do a Latin Festival in celebration of Cinco de Mayo.  Well, in a moment of complete weakness and stupidity, I thought we needed a ward party for our new ward so we could all get to know each other, etc.  Little did I know...that's all I'm saying...

The party ROCKED!  It was a huge success!  Everyone did their assignments, Kanani was a huge help with the food assignments, (and there was more than enough food) and the entertainment was AWESOME!!!  Jovita had been sick and I didn't know if she was still going to be able to dance, but she not only danced--she did an amazing job and brought her friends to dance for us too!  Everyone loved the dancers!  Kent and I had gone to Home Depot and bought a dance floor so they could really stomp and dance!  Wow!  Totally worth it!  We finished the evening off with pinatas for the kids.  I was dead tired when it was over, but I think it was the right decision. :)  So much fun!

Thanks Andy for taking my picture of the day while I ran around like a chicken with its head cut off!

Day 70--Lemon Meringue Cupcake

Isn't this a fabulous looking cupcake?  It was sooooo delicious!  My friend Jereen brought over a couple of them for me and Kent.  So good!  She loves cupcakes even more than I do!  I love the way this picture turned out too!

Day 69--New Hardware

We got new hardware for our kitchen cupboards tonight.  I love them.  We had to special order the canopy pulls for all of the drawers, but we have already installed all the door pulls.  Can't wait until the rest of them get here!Photobucket

Day 68--How Cute Are These?

I could not resist these cute cupcake papers!  These are going to make some cute cupcakes for Easter.  I am going to use the blue ones for Relief Society to celebrate the RS birthday and for Autism Awareness day.  Love them!Photobucket

Day 67--The Necessities

Still trying to make it away from this table.  All I really need it there--Handbook, directory, welfare notebook, visiting teaching, and a calendar.

Day 66--And the Color of the Day Is...

YELLOW!  I just love this field.  Just sayin'...

Day 65--Green!

I went with Kent to Hanford today so he could check on the greenhouses and his plants.  Good to know he's working in a safe environment!  Everyone is doing a great job keeping safe.

Day 64--Pollinators

These crazy branches sticking up from the middle of these trees are the 'pollinator' branches.  Instead of planting a pollinator tree, the farmer grafts on the branch of the cultivar he wants.  I know this because I have been married to Kent for a long time and he tells me every year when we go on the Blossom Trail. :) I still love the Blossom Trail and I still love Kent!

Day 63--Old Man Kent

It's that time of year again.  Kent is a happy man.  He gets to play in the dirt all day long.  This was a very happy day for him.  He was able to get lots done in his garden and yard.

Day 62--Spring

Can you tell I'm playing with light and reflection?  Maybe I should decide on one skill and then master it before moving on to the next skill.  I love this time of year.  I think my pictures will be awesome...NEXT YEAR!!!
p.s.  Since there wasn't a picture yesterday, here is a bonus picture.  :)

Day 61--Oh the Nothingness...

Hmmm....no pictures today...oh the nothingness of it all...Oops!

Day 60--Pink

Today was kind of a nothing day...so I snapped this picture of the azalea plant Kent brought home for me the other day.  I love pink flowers of any kind.  Th This will have to do for today's picture.

Day 59--All in a Row

OK, so I'm probably the only one that thinks this is a cool picture.  I am trying to play with repeating patterns and thought this would look nice.  I think so!  It is a local vineyard ready for Spring.

Day 58--Sunday Dinner

Today it was our turn to feed the missionaries.  This particular Sunday we had yummy enchiladas, beans and rice.  Kent did the honors of setting the table and I think he did a great job making it look festive!  Erica and Peter helped with the meal and the preparations.  We also invited our good friend Martha and her new Bishop and his wife.  We had a great time and the food was delicious

Day 57--C'mon Noah!

Noah has learned how to army crawl quite well these days.  Here's Emily dragging him back to the family room.  Too funny!  He doesn't seem to mind at all!

Day 56--Visiting Teaching...

The focus of this picture has been altered to protect the innocent...and to convey my real feelings about visiting teaching lately!  I'm going crazy and my eyes are beginning to blur with all the changes! haha  It is certainly a challenge with this new ward making sure the needs of the sisters are met and we haven't forgotten anyone!  We are determined to hand out new routes on Sunday!Photobucket

Day 55--Plain or Peanut?

Tonight we had our first Relief Society Meeting as the new Visalia 3rd Ward at my house.  My friend Amy lent me this cute "Getting to Know You" game they used in YW last week.  We had a great turn out and made new friends!  I love this new ward!

Day 54--Command Post

This is pretty much what my kitchen nook table looks like most of the time.  And no, it was not staged to look perfect this time!  That is really what it is like.  I have very much enjoyed having a longer table that enables me to pile it higher with stuff!

Day 53--More Cows Than Blossoms

Today I went in search of blossoms.  It's such a beautiful time of year and I was sure I would find fields of blossoms.  Well, all I found were cows!  Apparently it hasn't been quite warm enough to coax the blossoms to come out yet.  They do publish the fact that there are more cows in Tulare County than people in the newspaper every year.  I believe it is a true statement.  It seemed like there was a big dairy farm on every corner!  I finally gave up on my search for blossoms and took this picture of cows instead!

Day 52-- In With The New

Love, love, love it!  The best kind of furniture shopping is the kind you didn't plan and just happen upon.  We were getting our car serviced, went to lunch at the restaurant next to the service station, and walked past a furniture store.  I told Kent I wanted to look at the furniture while killing time waiting for the car to be finished.  He NEVER likes anything I like and I hadn't really planned on buying a dining room set.  I have been casually looking at antique stores for something and hadn't found anything I liked--let alone something Kent liked.  We both saw this, liked it, and Kent shocked me and told the salesman we wanted it.  Who am I to argue?  I cut a bunch of his daffodils from the garden to complete the look. haha  He thought they were the fake ones I used to
have in that same pitcher.

Day 51--Out With The Old

After more than fifteen years, we are getting a new kitchen table and chairs tomorrow.  I made these chair pads while we were waiting for this house to be built living in a little apartment on Caldwell Ave.  All my sewing projects kept me from being miserable in a little apartment with most of our belongings in storage.  Kent was sad to see them in the garbage as he knew how much time had gone into this sewing project.  I told him I was OK with throwing them away--they had served valiantly.  I'm looking forward to changing the look of the kitchen nook and not having to be worried that a chair would break when someone sat in it!

Day 50--Flowering Plum

First of all, let me just say...UNBELIEVABLE!!!  Fifty days and I'm still taking and posting pictures!  I may be a little late, and I'm certainly no expert, but I can at least say I've made it fifty days.  I'm a little surprised considering all that has been going on in my life these days.

OK then, here is today's picture.  I drove around looking for blossoms.  My mistake was driving south where there are predominately walnut trees not blooming or even leafing out!  I took this in the Walmart parking lot in Tulare.  The sun came out just at the right moment and this is a lucky shot.  I love pink blossoms.

Day 49--Lap Quilts

You've got to love Target clearance.  These little lap quilts were only fifty cents!  While visiting some of our newer sisters in the ward last week, one of them mentioned the Relief Society room at the Caldwell building could get really cold and they used to have little lap quilts the sisters could use to warm themselves up with.  So far, the room has been boiling hot!  (Just sayin'...)  For fifty cents, it was totally worth buying some for the closet to keep on hand if we need them.  At that price it was a no brainer to get some for the local woman's shelter.  I think they will enjoy the hearts on them and know that someone loves them. :)

Day 48--Stripes and Polka Dots

I would be lying if I said I didn't like dishes.  Now, add to that stripes and polka dots and I would then ask, "Did I even have a chance?"  When Target put these on clearance they JUMPED into my cart!  I started with four of each and by the time two days had passed by I had a set of eight!  Funny thing though, they are kind of shaped like a very shallow bowl and the food slips down to the middle of the plates.  Too funny!  We all laughed the other night while eating dinner and re-arranged our food to suit the design of the plate!
